TKH: Orienteering in Hanover, Northern Germany
Welcome to our Orienteering club! We - photos see above - are a small but active group of orienteers in and around Hanover, capital of Lower Saxony in Northern Germany. We regularly take part in regional and national orienteering events, as well as in some international ones. Futhermore, we organise an event ourselves every year.
Orienteering has a tradition of 45 years in our club. Foreign orienteers were always welcome and played an important part in it. In the past, we were home for many orienteers of the British armed forces, and more recently, Scandinavian, Baltic and CIS exchange students joined us during their stay in Germany.
Our orienteering section has won numerous regional and national championships (and more numerous vice-championships :-), and had three EOC/WOC participants. Currently Jenny is part of the German national team, and Günter is all-distances-champion in his Seniors category. We also hosted German Championships several times. In 2008, our head club 'TKH' celebrated its 150th anniversary, and the orienteering section organised the German Championships in Sprint Orienteering and a National Long-O ranking event.
